Big Brother meets Kath and Kim

14/08/2007 6:00:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero

Former Big Brother Housemate Katie Hastings will play a butcher’s assistant in the new season of Kath and Kim.

Katie’s character causes mayhem in the world of Kath and Kim when Kath becomes jealous of Katie’s ‘relationship’ with Kel, the show’s resident butcher.

Sources close to the show revealed Kath and Kim creators Jane Turner and Gina Riley were very impressed with Hastings’ audition.

The bubbly 21-year-old told Livenews.com.au that while nervous playing the role, actor Glenn Robbins helped showed her the ropes.

Hastings gained notoriety in BB2006 after forming an in house relationship with the show’s winner Jamie Brooksby.  Hastings later claimed Brooksby used her to win the show.

Other celebrities to appear in this season of Kath and Kim include Shane Warne, Eric Bana, and Little Britain star Matt Lucas.

Kath and Kim returns to Channel Seven this Sunday the 19th of August at 7.30pm.
