Well, one of the issues in this election campaign will be the extent to which sections of the media and certain politicians have duped the public on major policy issues.

Let's face it, when you look at the health fiasco of last week in New South Wales, how many voters were duped in the lead-up to the State election.

Kevin Rudd argues that the Government hasn't done enough about climate change, and has offered apparently personal congratulations to the Nobel Peace Prize winner, former US Vice-President Al Gore.

Mr Gore has won an Academy Award for his film An Inconvenient Truth, and now the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mind you, as I said last week, when it comes to the Nobel Peace Prize Mr Gore is in less than select company.

Yasser Arafat and Kofi Annan and the conspicuous American Presidential failure Jimmy Carter being amongst previous recipients.

But this coming to Gore in the same week that a British High Court has found that Gore's film is alarmist, one-sided and propagates untruths.

The British High Court brought down this ruling last week, arguing that the British Government was brainwashing British school children by mandating that the film be broadcast in schools.

Mr Justice Michael Burton described the documentary as politically partisan and he said some of the film's claims were wrong and had arisen in the context of alarmism and exaggeration.

And then this, "But it is not simply a science film ... it's a political film".

Well, talk that this might assist Al Gore in beating Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination appears to be just that, talk.

The award has rightly been heavily criticised.

And one of the world's famous meteorologists, Dr William Gray has called the award ridiculous, and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".

Dr William Gray told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina at the weekend that human beings were not responsible for the warming of the earth.

And Dr Gray, a long time professor at Colorado State University said "We're brainwashing our children ... they're going to the Gore movie and being fed all of this.  It's ridiculous".

Well it appears as though even in Australia the electorate is buying it.

But the warnings from Dr Gray are timely.

Human beings, he says, this is a world famous meteorologist - human beings were not responsible for the warming of the earth and "we're brainwashing our children.  They're going to the Gore movie and being fed all of this.  It's ridiculous."

Ridiculous all right.

Are we going to be brainwashed in the next six weeks?

If climate change is to be an issue in this election, it's to be hoped that like in most other things at election time, truth doesn't become a casualty.

how sad that you chose to believe one skeptic to justify your extreme right wing views above the countless experts who all agree that something has to be done to address the climate change issue NOW! Its not just a polical issue it is a Global issue. SIGN THE KYOTO AGREEMENT NOW!

You search around so hard to find a skeptic scientist. Are we to believe 1,000s of climate scientists are ALL deluded? Show me your hard evidence. If the sceptics are wrong and persist in delaying action, then we face drastic economic and environmental disruption. In the highly unlikely event that the climate scientists demanding action are wrong, then the worst that can happen is we face a more efficient and sustainable planet. Aust will have 2.7% growth vs 3%. What IS your problem?

Alan when finally global warming, climate change and now climate shift does not arrive to justify this trick by tired, fully funded practicing students and our half baked left over politically correct scientists understand they're the biggest jokes in history they will then need a new idea to follow on with.It will need to be driven by more than one person and rules of practice will contain the following rule, Do not look up into the sky in the direction of the sun. Indigo Jones, Rest in Peace.
