The BBC has announced approximately 1,800 job cuts over the next six years.
Director General Mark Thompson says there will be a smaller BBC but one which packs a bigger punch because it is more focused on quality.
A total of 2500 positions are to be phased out in the next six years, although some of this will be offset by the creation of some new jobs and natural staff turnover.
The cuts come after the government announced it's giving the public broadcaster less money than had been expected.
Unions have said they will consider strikes if there are compulsory redundancies.
