It's feared passengers' lives are being put at risk with Australian aircraft continuing to fly despite their crew and pilots being exposed to toxic engine fumes inside the cabin.
Senior pilots are concerned that crew and passengers could suffer serious health problems unless the design flaw in QANTAS aircrafts is addressed.
General Manager of the Australian and International Pilots Association Peter Sommerville says airlines have let the problem fly below the radar for too long.
“In July of this year, Qantas were issues with an improvement notice by WorkCover NSW in regard to fumes in the cockpit, and for a period of time after that notice was issued, Qantas let those aircraft continue to fly.”
