Monk bares all to save the animals

22/10/2007 9:30:00 AM.  | Annika Burgess
In a very persuasive ad for PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Asia-Pacific, Sophie Monk spices things up, baring all to encourage people to kick their meat habit.

The former member of Bardot has been steaming up television screens with sexy bra ads and being splashed all over the pages of gossip magazines with her fiancé Benji Madden, of US punk band Good Charlotte.

Since moving to the US and launching her acting career Monk has appeared in the films Date Movie and Click which catapulted her onto the international stage.

Monk is using her new found worldwide fame to draw attention to her passion for animal protection and the benefits of going vegetarian.

"There's no doubt in my mind that going vegetarian has made me feel better – not only physically but also because I learned about the suffering of animals who are raised and killed for food, and I feel good knowing that I'm not contributing to that.”

Well, well, well, another 'celebrity' that has latched onto a 'cause'. I hope she doesn't eat cheese, wear leather belts or shoes, or, for that matter, anything that uses a dead animal product or she would be labelled a hypocrite. PETA is the same bunch of loonies that labelled guide dogs for the blind as demeaning for dogs and campaigned against it.

Vegetarian is the only way to go if we are to feed the teeming billions of the world. It is well known it takes kilograms of grain to product 1 kilo of meat. If humans just ate the grain directly we'd wipe out world hunger in an instant (and have plenty left over for those who love a steak). Ask yourself this if you eat meat: just because something feels good, should you do it, despite the effects? People starve because the grain is feeding cows. Huge amount of water too! Go vegetarian!
