No Therese, just me: Rudd rules out a package deal

21/11/2007 2:00:00 PM.  | Stephen Spencer
Kevin Rudd says voters will not be getting his wife as part of a Labor leadership team if he wins the election on Saturday.

Mr Rudd was asked whether the success of his wife Therese Rein's business meant she would make a better Prime Minister than him.

But Mr Rudd rejected suggestions he would be like Bill Clinton who told voters the experience of his wife Hillary meant they would be getting 'two for the price of one’.

“No, I’m sorry, you’re just getting me,” he said.

“And I know that probably disappoints you, but I’m the guy who’s name’s on the ballot paper. And I think, knowing my wife reasonably well – we had our 26th wedding anniversary last week – that’s the way Therese would prefer it as well.”
