Russian star tennis player Anna Chakvetadze has been tied up and robbed by thieves who broke into her holiday home outside of Moscow on Tuesday.

According to Russian news sources, the 20-year-old tennis ace was tied up with her parents while criminals stole more than $200,000.

A police spokesperson said that four hooded robbers broke into the home at about 4.00am.

"They then made off with money and goods worth some five million rubles ($A234,041)," the spokesman added.

The World No.6 has enjoyed a breakthrough year on the WTA circuit, including a US Open semi-final berth. She won four titles this year, and helped Russia win the Fed Cup.
