Indian cricketers deny Sydney hit and run

The Indian cricket team has denied being involved in a Sydney hit-and-run, despite the fact that LIVENEWS.com.au was the first to release footage of the bingle earlier today.

En route to the airport, the Australian-based driver scrapped past a parked Mercedes as he merged into traffic on O'Connell Street.

The coach driver failed to stop, with one eye-witnesses informing LIVENEWS.com.au's Mark Levy he was shocked that the driver continued down the road after making contact with the luxury sedan.

"I am a little bit surprised, I thought a local driver might be experienced enough to know the roads here," said the eye-witness.

But Indian media manager Dr M.V. Sridhar told News Limited the accident did not happen, saying: I am on the bus. We didn't hit anything.

India have arrived in Canberra an ACT Invitational XI tour match starting tomorrow - the tour finally getting back underway after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave the go-ahead overnight following racism and umpiring rows.

Meanwhile former Australian Test Opener Justin Langer has lashed out at Harbhajan Singh, labelling him a ‘trouble maker’.

"Harbhajan Singh's always been a little bit different, and always been a little bit of a trouble maker,” he said.

"If there have been incidences in the past, perhaps Harbhajan's been one of the guys who's been involved in that.

"It's just the way he plays his cricket.

"Sometimes those guys do become antagonistic sort of players, and the fact is if you look at it, he's [Harbhajan] generally not far from the action if there has been any ill-blood between the teams.”

Please be advised that the Singh - Symonds racial abuse issue is no longer a matter confined to the Media (Australian/Indian), the ICC, the BCCI and Cricket Australia. It is now a legal matter. The fact is that there is prima-facie evidence for match-fixing by Ponting and Symonds. Match-fixing is illegal, by ICC rules and by Indian law. After thinking about it carefully, I have come to the conclusion that the appropriate response is to ban the entire Australian cricket team for one year.

Smale, never have I heard such nonsense. Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds are guilty of match fixing about as much as India are guilty of playing good solid cricket. They were humiliated in the first test and were beaten on the bell in the second. At the end of the day, India are behind 2-0 in the series. All the whingers want to do is take focus off that fact.

It seems very likely smale. Otherwise how is that possible 12 wrong decisions are made at crucial points and 11 are against one team. Even when that was not sufficient, they thought made out Bhajji issue. Shame!! and what is this hit & run issue? Is this done by Indian team??

India need better coaching. smale 25, aus, no cricket ever again? With the present setup it seems preferable.

The real whingers here are the Aussies. For decades, Aussie players have taunted, used racial epithets and sledging to intimidate opponents. And now they want us to beleive that they are offended by a word said by an opponent. How rich. The fact is that Ponting cannot get into form when Harbhajan plays for India. He therefore cooked up a scheme to get rid of an opposing player. Anything to win the game. Pathetic.

Indians see things differently. Now what? They want ICC to stop this story?

Can the reporting get a bit sensible, Did any of the team members were driving the bus? It was a slight scrap and how do you expect them to know from within a closed air conditioned bus..... Can the reporting grow up and get responsible...This seems very very very childish....

I agree with Pras Shan, Who cares if the bus ran into a merc? It had nothing to do with the Indians and all to do with the driver. If the media stops beating up stories then maybe we can get some good cricket happening! Go Aussies!

A. It's only a Merc, not like it was a Holden or and decent car. B. The guy in the back seat was obviously responsible as the butler has an alibi. Or was it the Dingo.

I wonder which IDIOT asked BCCI Manager about this hit n run incident. He definately wasnt driving the bus. Ask the driver instead. Use some common sense gentlemen.
