A young boy has been left violently ill after drinking contaminated water from a garden hose in Sydney’s west.
The 5-year-old was rushed to hospital with doctors fearing he may have been contaminated by cryptosporidium.
He's since been released, and the NSW government denies we're facing further problems with our drinking water.
Dr Paul Vilavelt from NSW Health says the disease is more often spread through direct contact with people who are already sick, or through swimming in contaminated pools.
"It's very unlikely tap water or drinking water in Sydney would cause illness."
