The Princes Highway in South Australia's south-east remains closed on Sunday afternoon, after a motorcyclist died when the bike she was riding collided with an emu.
Police said the collision occurred about 25km from Salt Creek on the highway, also known as the Salt Creek to Kingston Road, about 11.20am (CDT).
"It's believed the female motorcycle rider crashed with an emu and died at the scene," a police spokesman said.
He said a second female motorcyclist had been travelling with the woman who died, not as a pillion passenger as police earlier said. She was not injured.
Police said the highway would remain closed at the site of the accident for the remainder of the day, with traffic being diverted through the town of Keith.
The woman's death takes South Australia's road toll so far this year to four, compared to seven at the same time last year.
