Channel Nine has lost one of its biggest stars, with Ray Martin announcing he's walked away from the network.

He’s been working with Channel Nine for just on 30 years, Ray Martin was hired when 60 Minutes started in 1978.

During his time at Nine, Martin hosted a number of top rating specials including Up Close and Personal, Ray Martin Presents and The Ray Martin Show, where he interviewed a number of high profile celebrities such as Madonna, Elton John, Tom Cruise and Robin Williams.

Martin became Nine’s Senior Reporter in December 2005, and also hosted various television specials including the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, and Federal and State Election nights.

He’s a five time Gold Logie winner for Nine, including four in a row between 1993 and 1996.

Martin was the face of the Nine Network, until recent years when he became less prominent, he recently moved onto the Sunday program.

Speaking with 2GB’s Phillip Clarke tonight, Martin has denied there is any bad blood between he and the television station.

“As you know, I’ve talked about this for a year or so. My daughter finishes university in England this year, we are going to see her graduate, take about a month...”

“It just seemed like the stars are right, it’s a good time to do something else, so it’s as angry as that.”

Ray Martin knows what exactly he is saying in the programme "Today Tonight". He is honest and truthful. When Bob Fulton became the first millionnaire, he was on "Today Tonight" compered by Ray Martin. Do not allow the media let you down, Ray. I would like to meet you. Please be aware of the fact that I am a female Cerebral Palsy Quadraplegic due to late birth delivery. I have a very severe hearing loss and my speech is distorted and since April,1992 I have been in a power chair.
