He’s made it in Radio and TV and now Kyle Sandilands has really made it in showbiz – as an entry in this year’s Archibald prize.
Sandilands is fittingly portrayed as Henry VIII in a portrait by Arith Mohamad.
The portrait, like many others, was delivered to the Art Gallery of NSW yesterday.
They include a picture of veteran ABC journalist Kerry O’Brien, Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Peter Jensen, and former Victorian Premier and President of Hawthorn Football Club Jeff Kennett.
Entries to the prestigious painting competition close on Friday, with the winner named on March 7.
The winner will be awarded $50,000.
The Archibald prize was first awarded in 1921 after J.F. Archibald left money in his will for the annual portrait prize.
Archibald founded the recently discontinued Bulletin magazine and paid for a large fountain to be built in Sydney’s Hyde Park which also bears his name.
