Shadow Defence Minister Nick Minchin has told disgruntled backbenchers it's in everyone's best interests if they make up their minds quickly about whether they're staying in politics.
It comes as former deputy prime minister Mark Vaile is working a second job as a lobbyist while he draws a $127, 000 salary for being an MP.
Shadow Defence Minister Nick Minchin says Mr Vaile and others need to decide on their futures
Labor's Tony Burke says Mr Vaile should quit or get on with his job.
“It’s not an unreasonable expectation if part of what they do in their daily life, is what tax payers are paying them to do.”
Mr Vaile is the latest former minister, now sitting on the backbench to be questioning their future.
Peter Costello and Peter McGauran are searching for other jobs, while Alexander Downer caused controversy for skipping question time.
