NSW police could soon be granted greater powers, similar to those given to them during the high security APEC summit.
The Iemma government is considering a proposal to make the controversial powers permanent or available for special events.
If accepted, officers would again be handed the right to exclude people from certain areas and carry out extreme stop and search procedures.
