A taser trial by Queensland police is to be extended to frontline officers in Brisbane's south.
Since July last year tasers have been trialled in three police regions in south-east Queensland by senior officers.
Eight tasers will now be made available to all 37 frontline general duty officers at the Dutton Park station throughout April, May and June, says Police Minister Judy Spence.
"Now we want to monitor the use of tasers by a group of first response officers of all ranks, gender, age, and length of service," Ms Spence said.
"The information will assist in developing policy, training and reporting arrangements for the use of tasers.
"It will also help with planning for the future roll-out of tasers."
Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said Dutton Park proved the perfect environment for the dasher trial.
"Dutton Park has been chosen because it is an inner metropolitan, medium sized station that deals with a variety of crimes, issues, and public events in a community with a wide demographic," Mr Atkinson said.
