A trailer of the heavily anticipated upcoming episode of the Oprah Winfrey show, featuring a world first interview with a man who is six month pregnant has emerged on the internet.

In the trailer, the public is shown proof of the extraordinary pregnancy, with footage featuring 34-year-old Thomas Beatie undergoing ultrasound scans.

The story which made headline news around the world was dismissed by many as a hoax, but now Oprah has the interview to prove it.

The interview with Beatie and his wife Nancy will air in the US tomorrow morning (AEDT).

The couple made the decision for Beatie to carry their child after Nancy was forced to have a hysterectomy due to a chronic illness.

Having kept his female reproductive organs, the opportunity was there, with the help of a sperm donor for Beatie to carry his own child.

Oprah is shown rubbing his pregnant belly, and asks the couple: “Is the world ready for this?”

It is not really a breakthrough. He was born with a female's reproductive system. His body is doing what it was capable of to begin with. Now when a man, born without female reproductive organs is pregnant, then I will really worry. What will be my excuse then?

David Daniel Ball, you are an Olympic class dill? How can it not be a breakthrough, you halfwit? He has managed to retain some of his female organs because his female partner is infertile. Think before you leap, peabrain! Oh, that's right, the first case of male pregnancy happened with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film "Twins", right? Get over yourself, you right-wing Communist loony!

Settle, Jess. In an earlier post I congratulated the happy couple too. To be straight, and uncontroversial, it is wonderful, a blessing, that a woman may fall pregnant. But not miraculous. The guy was born a girl, and he retained his sexual organs so as to have a child. It is more a wonder of engineering and medical ethics than a medical miracle. As for being communist, or right wing, to clarify, I am conservative and centreist, with right leanings.

A real man was pregnant in 1938 in SC. He was a black American and was given a C=section in the Orangeburg, SC hospital. Things of that nature were not talked about in that time frame, but my grandmother had taken one of the farm workers to the hospital and saw a nurse carrying a baby around. The nurse is the one that told my grandmother about the male giving birth. My twin can verify what I have written. She lives in another city. The hospital may not have kept the records.
