Channel Ten is likely to be in damage control after Kyle Sandilands, one of their top hosts, said he “hated the guts” of another network star, Rove McManus, on his radio show.
Sandilands, who is a judge on Australian Idol and host of Big Brother, badmouthed McManus on his Sydney radio show yesterday immediately after an interview with the host of Rove and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.
Finishing the interview about McManus’s Gold Logie nomination with “Thanks mate, nice to talk to you”, Sandilands then launched into a rant after he had hung up.
“I lied about the ‘nice to talk to you’ bit,” Sandilands said.
“(I) hate talking to him … hate his guts.
“I was being civil. But I still don't like him. I don't want to pretend to the audience that I like him, because he's an arsehole.”
This is not the first time Sandilands, who started his life in showbiz as a shock jock, has courted controversy.
Last year he had a much publicised stoush with Rove regular Dave Hughes last year.
Sandilands said he would punch Hughes in the neck after Hughes called him a “massive dickhead” at the 2007 Logies awards.
