Australian Idol has canned its Los Angeles auditions after judge Kyle Sandilands pulled out due to scheduling problems.
The United States auditions were due to be held on Sunday with Sandilands presiding over the judging.
A spokesman for Australian Idol's production company said the audition had been scrapped because of a conflict with Sandilands' schedule.
Production being stretched for its London auditions was another big factor, the spokesman said.
"London has been massive for us and we've had an overwhelming response to London," he told AAP.
"Kyle's timetable was a factor of us not being able to do all our commitments as well."
The auditions had been inspired largely by the success of Australian Michael Johns, who is wowing audiences on American Idol.
Australian Idol film crews will leave for the UK on Friday ahead of a one-off audition for expats in London on Saturday, April 19.
Judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson will be accompanied by celebrity guest judges Darren Hayes and Tina Arena.
James Matheson will host the singing auditions.
His hosting partner, Andrew G, was meant to host the LA event and there is now fresh speculation that he may not be returning to the series.
This year is the first time that the Ten Network series has had overseas auditions.
The sixth series of the reality singing competition will begin airing from around August.
