WA Opposition leader accused of "chair sniffing"

29/04/2008 8:20:00 PM.  |
A female Liberal staffer says she was shocked and outraged when West Australian Opposition Leader Troy Buswell sniffed the chair she had been sitting on.

Mr Buswell on Monday refused to deny allegations he sniffed the chair of a Liberal staffer after she finished talking to a constituent in 2005.

The unnamed staffer has told The West Australian newspaper she was furious over the incident and gave Mr Buswell a dressing down.

"I was shocked and outraged and I told him," she told the newspaper.

"I was very concerned and expressed my displeasure loudly. and I believe that's where the matter should have ended."

Mr Buswell earlier this year admitted snapping the bra of a female Labor party staffer and has been accused by retiring Liberal MP Katie Hodson-Thomas of making sexist remarks to her.

Mr Buswell told reporters the allegations were part of a negative campaign against him, which he had predicted after taking over the leadership from Paul Omodei earlier this year.

Whether allegations or not, such behaviour by ANY public figure has to be considered feral and absolutely disgusting!!!!! Some males think that they can act in any way that they want to in regard to women by initiating sleazy, suggestive and lewd actions.

This happened in 2005 and it's been revealed now and he's still got a job - there appears to be laws for some and not for others - he's a pervert - just goes to show how well educated you might be it doesn't mean you can't be a sleaze bucket - funny how those who are in high powered positions are able to think they can get away with!

The former proprietor of a bicycle hire buisness in Broome who hired a bike to Elle Mcpherson kept the seat after she returned it . Hey Troy there's a precedent , perhaps you could use it to wrangle ,back peddle and lie your way out of. You stupid bufoon

This is all about an upcoming State election, and the WA Liberals are ahead in the polls. Work the rest out for yourselves! It was apparently done as a prank.

Gary: He's admitted to it! and it should have been dealt with in 2005 not 3 years later!

WHo cares? Is it illegal to sniff a chair? It might be crass, but it's not a crime. I wouldn't do such a thing, but if some guy sniffed a chair after somebody vacated it, that's his problem and nobody else's.

It sems really easy to get some 'stories' reported. Yet we haven't been given background to this. Was it a lark, or was it caught on surveillance, being done surrepticiously. I recall what happened when a smear campaign almost cost the life of a former NSW Liberal leader. The truth is, this is a beat up. I heard worse suggested about Schwartzenegger. Mud sticks, though, I want to see the ALP hands.

Worse than me... I don't think so.... Sniffing, whether it be glue, petrol or chairs is a horrible habit! Hasta la vista Buswell!!!EP

Take a deep breath everyone. Sniffing is NOT a crime. Let's hope the sniff police don't get a whiff of this pungent non crime.

Only the Liberal Party seem to have strange ways of doing things. What next will they be sniffing....

Maybury, I think the next "weird" activity is a Labor sponsored ear wax picking and digesting contest! I think you have an entrant in that?

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a pair of her knickers tucked away somewhere. Realistically this is sexual harassment and a form of psychological intimidation. Last year it was John Brogden, last week it was Vivien Dye and now it is the West Australian opposition leader. Whats doing in the Liberal Party? If conservatives had their way women would be prevented from voting, working and having any form of opinion, they would merely be the Betty Crocker's and Margaret Fulton's of society.

Ambrose, be careful taking the moral high ground on behalf of Labor...because they also have a closet full of "material", remember the member for Charlton in the Hunter Valley, Kelly Hoare? And there are plenty more!

Geoff B, As Mao said: "we must always practice the art of self criticism" I give criticism when its due, it has nothing to do with taking the moral high ground. We have despots and dead beats on our side also. State Conference should be sensational, I will be taking my mesh glove and boning knives.

Ambrose, I think you need to consider Mao's other atrocities during the "Cultural Cull" before using him as a source of frigging wisdom!

Geoff B, If I have read the 'Communist Manifesto' does that make me a Communist? Of course not. If I have read the 'Koran' does that make me a Muslim? Of course not. If I have read the bible does that make me a Christian? Of course not. It simply means that the individual more then likely has a little more knowledge on the subject. As for 'cultural culling' I ask you to consider how many millions have died under guise of Christianity?

Mr Buswell was probably just sniffing the chair to see if she was on Heat!He is proof of evolution and looks similar to a gorilla.Nothing wrong with a state premier(Maybe) that goes around sniffing Ladies chairs after they have sat on them.Perfectly normal behavior for a Liberal Politician.

Keats/Dapto. Maybe its only marginally worse that ear wax eating?? Get a life.

Wednesday, 30 April 2008

Marginally worse than ear wax eating???? Sexually harassing a staffer in the workplace with a revolting implication versus doing something a bit gross in the personal hygiene stakes when you think no one's looking?? You're a true sicko if you reckon they're the same thing. Talking to you, Gazza.

Buswell looks like a silver back gorilla and acts like one and should stand down as that was totally offensive what he done.Sounds like he has a problem and should seek counseling.Either way he will always be remembered as a Chair Sniffer.

Who cares about this even if it is true? What's more important - the pressing economic issues or someone who sniffs the chair? Another distraction from Rudd govt's incompetency in running the economy of the country.

God help the Queen, if she visits Western Australia ,if Buswell is the Premier!!!!!

Wednesday, 30 April 2008

Its interesting to see everyone get moralistic about chair sniffing and not give a stuff about the way this government is running our economy into the ground? Chair sniffing is silly, as is ear wax ingesting, but we need to keep this in perspective... it is a "distraction", it was "silly", it is timed to co-incide with a Liberal lead in the polls in WA, it distracts many of you from Swan's ineptness. Get a reality check! Get on Rudd's back for failing to deliver on promises.

Good Government is achieved by having a good opposition. Troy Buswell action on two reorted events is not the type of history anyone can have and still have expectations of being a WA Premier. The liberal and National parties have had some years to get together as a team, I find it hard to believe that the Liberal Party in particular seems to move along like a ship without a captain and a rudder. The accepted idea that Troy Buswell is the best they have , will not win votes at the next Election.

OI !! Benson , Troy dosen't dosen't want to get out of the pool I just watched the news he feels " I am the right person to lead the liberal party into the next election". Nobody wants to put there hand up for the job ,Troy knows this . There could be an opening for a bright young lad from the western suburbs of Sydney . Interested?

Hey Keats , Mr Buswell's behavior can be explained as 'evolutionary throw back' The phenomenon where some traits surface in modern day man from our Neanderthal ancestors . In a nut shell we have a cave man CHAIRING the WA Liberal party.

Slick...and is ear wax eating also 'evolutionary throw back' ???

Gazza, I was serious in offering an explanation into Mr Buswell's actions ,whilst correcting Mr Keatings theory on Primates and knowledge of anthropology . You spelt my name right for the first time , it didn't go unoticed.

Friday, 02 May 2008

Gazza ,im 100% sure ear wax eating is evolutionary throwback No doubt about it . But is it worthy of being ejected from the cave?

Silk 6...you were SERIOUS in offering 'evolutionary throw back' as an explanation, well SO WAS I with Rudd and the ear wax. Sorry for spelling your name correctly, it won't happen again! Perhaps if you used your proper name then I'd take you seriously?

Mr Buswell made himself available to the excellent questioning of Rebbecca Carmody on the ABC's Stateline. Interesting stuff and her probing was first class to the point Mr Buswell stuttered on numerous occaisions throughout the interview. It would seem his faithful colleagues in he party fed the 'chair sniffing ' incident to the media. Miss Carmody knew more of Troy's robust past, he declined to elaborate. There's plenty more left in this smear campaign. yabba dabba doo!!!!
