It’s taken a meandering path to reach our TV screens but finally it’s here.
Flight of the Conchords, the story of two hapless New Zealand musicians trying to make it big in New York is about to take our world by storm, having take a route which couldn’t have been planned longer.
Hailing from New Zealand the two had had some success with their offbeat brand of deadpan humour before heading to the big apple to try their luck.
And after being getting a show up on America’s HBO network and being met with rave reviews the New Zealanders have come back down under to show us their wares.
In the show the duo play naïve fictionalised versions of themselves who get involved in all kinds of adventures in their simple quest to get girlfriends and gigs in the greatest city on earth.
Along the way they go to bohemian parties, acquire an obsessed fan, and hurt each other’s feelings – and at every available opportunity break into comic song.
Flight of the Conchords is a dry, deadpan comedy in a similar vein to ‘The Office, ‘Extras’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
Flight of the Conchords premiere’s this Sunday on the Ten Network at 10.10pm.
