A woman gunned down at Sydney’s Star City Casino was apparently shot by her ex-boyfriend.
The 25-year-old alleged gunman went into hiding after the shooting before police swooped on him as he tried to run into a nearby building.
Officers caught the man at the corner of Pyrmont Bridge Road and Pyrmont Street.
He's currently being questioned.
Officers say he was armed with three guns, and managed to get up to the Casino’s fifth floor with a fake disguise.
Inspector Brentan Lee from City Central Police has told 2GB’s Philip Clark it was a brave effort by officers.
“He’s obviously quit a dangerous man.”
“The shooting that brought this matter about has of course proved that.”
The 30-year-old woman was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after being shot at around 2pm.
The dog squad has been brought in and police are continuing to scour the scene, interviewing a taxi driver who has handed over a twenty dollar note.
A witness has told LIVENEWS.com.au she heard a gunshot.
“Everyone thought it was a gunshot, but we weren’t quite sure,” she said.
“Then the security guard came and told us it was a gunshot.”
