Chris Lilley considering ideas for next ABC project

Comedian Chris Lilley's emotional link to his popular character creations Ja'mie, Mr G and B-Boy Jonah Takalua could see their return in a new series for the ABC.

Lilley said at this week's Logie Awards he is toying with ideas for his follow up to hit series Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes.

"I really like the idea of bringing characters back, like I did with (Ja'mie) from the previous series (We Can Be Heroes)," he told News Limited.

"I'd love to bring them back because it's really sad when you have to leave them behind."

Lilley said he couldnt decide which character was his favourite.

"There isn't one in particular really. I'm fond of all of them but I love the idea of new characters too."

But don't expect a series too soon - Lilley is still in negotiations with US cable network HBO and the BBC to get Summer Heights Heigh broadcast internationally.

"As soon as it screened here they were interested so it was something I was trying to sort out for a while," he said.

"I'm just glad that they are playing it in its original form and people over there can see it the way it was supposed to be."
