A man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Central Sydney yesterday.

Police swarmed through the Pyrmont area and arrested a 37-year-old man on the corner of Bridge Road and Pyrmont Street yesterday, after a woman was shot three times in the abdomen on the 5th floor of Star City Casino.

It’s believed the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the 28-year-old victim, who’s an employee of the Star City gym.

The woman is in a stable condition, recovering at Prince Alfred Hospital.

Police say the man was in possession of three firearms and a disguise when they arrested him.

A scheduled appearance by the Prime Minister just a few blocks away was delayed until the area was given the all clear.

The suspect faces five charges including attempted murder, he will appear in Central Local Court today .
