The launch of the DVD version of the Underbelly TV series has gone off with a bang, with many stores running out of copies within hours.
Underbelly Uncut, the DVD version of the Nine Network's hit gangland drama, went on sale nationwide yesterday, except in Victoria where it is currently banned from being broadcast due to a court order.
The DVD includes all 13 episodes, as well as scenes not shown on television.
The Virgin Megastore in Sydney said only people that had pre-ordered copies had been able to secure one and it was a similar story with other stores around the country.
Tim Rapp, who works at the Virgin store in Sydney, said it had not even been able to keep up with the pre-ordered demand.
Mr Rapp said the store was waiting on more deliveries after getting only 100 yesterday.
"It's just been nuts here," he told AAP.
It's understood that the distributor Village Roadshow has more than 60,000 units ready for sale.
It originally intended to distribute just 30,000 copies.
