One woman has been charged for throwing a bottle, and two men detained during a protest at the Burmese Embassy in Canberra.

Protestors were demanding the Bumese Military lift their veto on Foreign Aid, to stop the death-toll of 100,000, from rising in the wake of Cyclone Nargis.

But emotions flared even before the protest was underway, with one woman arrested for hurling a plastic bottle at the ambassador's car as it arrived at the compound.

Protesters travelling from Sydney and Melbourne to picket, say the police were heavy-handed with the woman.

The woman was later charged, along with two men were temporarily detained.

The police did what they have to. However, the politicians in Canberra have abrogated their responsibility, so that Australians with relatives in Burma must fear for the lives of their relatives in silence. Because Rudd is spineless on this issue, (the junta hasn't harpooned a whale) these people are desperate. The situation becomes worse when you consider what happened to that policeman who arrested a drunk man who later died in custody. It is almost as if treatment is based on race.

ODDBALL, More nonsensical drivel on your part. Poloticians abrogated their responsibility, abrogated means to cancel an agreement . What was agreed between the Burmese protesters and Canberra ? Or is it a case of you miss using the English language? Your prolific contribution on this site in my observation is boring and ill informed. Realisticly speaking I of the opinion that your orifice's are multifunctional .

Actually abrogate means to repeal, abandon or abolish. David is saying that the protestors have no alternative but to protest becasue it appears to him that the Australian governement have abandanoned their responsibility that they owe to Burmese Australians to keep them informed about what is happening in their homeland.

ODD BALL, Im sure that you realise this site is interactive, in saying you do have a right to respond to criticism by other users, if you feel your commentry, remarks or opinion are worthy of being published . ODD to say the least that you make no attempt to interact with the rest of the forum and offer reasoning to your incorporeal statements.

Thank you slick. I am puzzled about the dogpile reference .. I'm proudest of the tribute to Clare Oliver (Too close to the flame), or the 'yearning from loss' song which was written by a 13 yo boy in Chicago. I'm trying my hand at journalism with Picking Cotton. However, I have been lucky to work with kids from 'Rumble Pictures' in Fairfield/Cabramatta. Check their stuff and you will see why I am so gung ho about promoting them. They do it on no budget.

ODD BALL, you have stated that politicians in Canberra have 'abrogated' their responsibility toward Australians with relatives in Burma. You have alluded to Mr Rudd being spineless on this issue. In my view you are attacking an extreme peripheral with baseless statements .It would have been far more interesting to read your thoughts on the reality of the Burmese regime slowing the process of aid reaching the people who are actually 'desperate', instead of blaming our Prime Minister.

Slick 6, Burma's Junta is supported by China. They sometimes have brush wars, but they prop each other up too. Rudd has no influence in any of these areas, but he is lauded for his expertise in this area. Burmese peoples who are Australian are entitled for the recently elected Rudd to make an honest attempt to intercede. Mr Howard would have played a leadership role before now. I am sorry you don't get that.

I appreciate what Concerned Liberal posted, and I think my earlier posting has yet to actually be challenged. Gazza seems to wish to connect my name and address for reasons known only to him. However, Garry, I am on myspace as well. My Icompositions music site has had 168000 views in the last few years. My comments are researched. I don't tend to respond to ad hominem attacks.

Odd Indie David Deadball Carramar. Shut up. Your incessant outpouring of crap is tedious and disruptive to normal intelligent debate. Are you lonely or something? I didn't know they allowed PC's and internet access in mental institutions!
