Protest over Gold Coast pathway development

12/05/2008 9:39:00 AM.  |
Gold Coast environmentalists have taken a swipe at local council for steamrolling a plan to build a walkway over one of the region's last remaining coastal dunes.

The council will vote today whether to go ahead with the development at Flat Rock Creek, Currumbin after a last-minute campaign to save the area delayed construction for a month.

Save Currumbin Sand Dunes spokesman Paul Prineas says residents were never told about the proposal, which will see a three and a half metre-wide walkway built in what he says is an environmentally sensitive area.
