Teen appears in court over sexual assault of 82-year-old

A Sydney teenager is on remand after appearing in court charged over the sexual assault of an elderly woman.

It’s alleged the 18-year-old attacked the 82-year-old woman at a park near Anzac Avenue, west Ryde yesterday morning.

The victim was walking through the park when she was knocked to the ground and sexually assaulted.

Screams were heard and police were called - the teen faces four charges including intent to have sexual intercourse.

Chief Inspector Robert Vellar from Gladesville police says officers are shocked by the details of the crime.

“Look, it’s distressing for everyone,” he told LIVENEWS.com.au.

“When facts like this arise everyone is in disbelief, firstly.”

He appeared briefly in court, dressed in prison greens with his head kept bowed.

He hasn’t entered a plea and remains in custody to appear next month.

Teenager? more like a moron - he's old enough to vote or is that saying that they are not adult enough? come on this is beyond a joke - name the bastard so that he can be exposed to everyone for his stupidity - that might deter others - well lawyers what about it - the defence will be he's got a mental illness - who's defending this bastard anyhow - the taxpayer?? - he should pay for his own defence the coward!

Lone females, the young and the very old need protection from these feral roaming youths. These days of excess means that if they want something, they are used to getting it! We need far harsher penalties for rape and murder. We need to bring back capital punishment. Prison is not enough for some crimes.

I don't understand the teen's thinking. I feel he should be locked up and the key thrown away. I would accept mutilation as a second option.
