Mercedes Corby's shame over drug letters

13/05/2008 11:04:00 AM.  | Emily Smith

Mercedes Corby has told a Sydney court she's embarrassed now to look at letters she wrote to her former best friend when she was young, talking about drugs.

The 33-year-old says she was young and immature when she wrote to Jodie Power while living in Japan as a teenager.

Letters between the pair discuss smoking marijuana and getting drunk.

She’s told the court, while it’s true she exaggerated, saying she was showing off to her friends thinking it was cool.

"It is embarrassing, very embarrassing, to have those letters read out," Corby told the court.

Referring to photos apparently showing Ms Corby using drugs, she said she was 17 in one photo and could not recall if she had smoked the marijuana but would not deny it.

She said a second photo was taken when she was 19 and she had a paper bag on her head as she had "just had a couple of puffs" of marijuana.

"We were just being silly," she said.

Ms Corby is suing Channel Seven, claiming she was defamed by Ms Power during a n interview on Today Tonight.

So now we have Mercedes Corby saying her letters to Jodie Power was immature ,bignoting herself that the quality of the 'mull' in Japan was a lie to raise her self esteem . The mind boggles as to how far someone would go when cornered. 'Mercedes ,de'nial is not a river in Africa ' These individuals have been involved in the drug trade no doubt, to the extent of Mercedes smuggling is up to the court. If she loses she wont get done for smuggling ,the impeccable Corby name will suffer somewhat.

It isn't defamation if it is true. So when did Mercedes stop driving to the dealer? Who sold her the dope? Why won't she turn them in?
