Ex- AFL star Wayne Carey has put his luxury Melbourne pad up for sale and his heading for the Gold Coast to start a new life with the girlfriend he is accused of assaulting.
Carey and Kate Neilson are believed to be keen to move as soon as possible, leaving behind the apartment that was the scene of a confrontation with police earlier this year over which the former champion is facing charges.
Last month Carey was charged with three counts of assaulting police and resisting arrest after he was subdued with capsicum spray by police after a fracas in the apartment in January.
He is also accused of assaulting Neilson in Miami during a US holiday last year.
Carey will face Melbourne Magistrates court next Thursday over the apartment fracas.
Carey paid $1.4 million for the three-bedroom penthouse in Port Melbourne in 2006.
It has been listed for sale by Marshall White.
