Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg has raved about Australian humour, praising Aussie audiences as smart, appreciative and enthusiastic.
"I really enjoyed doing stand-up in Australia, there's an easy going charm and it's a nice environment to do comedy," Pegg said at the 61st edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.
"I have a big affection for that part of the world."
The British comedy-actor is on the French Riveria touting his latest film How to Lose Friends and Alienate People in which he stars alongside Hollywood babe Kirsten Dunst.
Pegg plays Sidney Young who lands a plum job at prestigious New York magazine Sharps only to end up irritating his boss, horrifying his colleagues and failing to find love, despite numerous cringe-inducing attempts.
The story is based on British journalist Toby Young's bestselling book of the same name which charts Young's real-life misfortunes while working at Vanity Fair magazine.
