Clarke back for second Test

17/05/2008 7:11:00 PM.  | Dominic Brock
Michael Clarke will miss the first Test against the West Indies next week after remaining home to attend the funeral of fiancée Lara Bingle’s father, but is set to return for the second Test.

Clarke will arrive in Jamaica next Friday, a day after the first Test begins. He will stay in the country for a few days after today’s funeral.

“It has been a tough week for Lara and her family, I am glad I have been here,” the Australian vice captain told News Limited.

“We are grateful for the numerous cards of condolence over the past week and the kind words from friends, family and the public.

“I have decided to remain in Sydney for a couple more days to be with the family. I will miss the first Test and am sure the boys will serve Australia well.

“I am looking forward to catching up with the team and being ready to go for the second Test in Antigua (starting on May 30).”
