NSW's aging rail fleet improving

NSW's aging rail fleet seems to be in better condition than first thought.

Breakdowns have dropped 20 per cent since 2005.

Transport Minister John Watkins says that means more passengers aren't left waiting.

“Because some of those trains are old we do have a reasonable number of mechanical break-downs every month, however that is reducing and that’s the good news.”

“The impact on our on-time running is improving all the time,” he said.

I have not noticed any improvements. There is still rubbish strewn throughout the trains. Some 'passengers' are aggressive and demand money. There is little security. They don't run on time regularly. They sometimes miss stops. Ticketing doesn't always work. Some trains have a high decibel whistle in carriage. In short nothing has changed and there have been no priority identified to improve.
