Point Break sequel rumours swelling

Patrick Swayze’s cult film ‘Point Break’ is to get a sequel.

The surfing-themed crime thriller, which also starred Keanu Reeves, was a massive hit when released in 1991.

Rumours of a follow-up have been rife at the Cannes Film Festival, which is being held in France this week.

Swayze – who is currently fighting pancreatic cancer - is rumoured to be eager to reprise his role of bank robbing surfer Bodhi, while Reeves is being tipped to play FBI agent John Utah again.

‘Dirty Dancing’ star Swayze, 55, has been undergoing gruelling chemotherapy treatment to fight the potentially life-threatening disease but has vowed to keep working as long as he is well enough.

Pete Iliff - the writer of the original movie - has already penned the script for the new film, and Indonesia and Singapore have been touted as possible shooting locations.

Iliff, who is now a director, said: "There was some worry that re-visiting the characters I wrote back in 1987 would infuriate fans of the original chapter."

The original ‘Point Break’ ended with Keanu’s character Utah letting Bodhi, portrayed by Swayze, surf into a huge ‘killer wave’ rather than arrest him.

But who will play the surfer chick? They don't age as well.
