Issuing an extra 229 taser stun-guns to NSW’s Police is a 'drop in the ocean' according to the Opposition with calls to increase their availability.
The Police Association says at least 1500 are needed to effectively deal with violent situations and avoid unnecessary bloodshed.
Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell says the stun-guns are a very good piece of equipment which should be provided to all officers.
“I have greater confidence in our police force.”
“I also have greater confidence in the police Commissioner being able to put together guidelines for the use of tasers that will assist the police in doing the job the community wants them to do.”
“Look I just think that those who argue against tasers have their head in the sand.”
