Orkopoulos whistleblower rejects payment offer

20/05/2008 6:26:00 AM.  | Kelly Fedor
The woman who blew the whistle on convicted paedophile Milton Orkopoulos has been offered a secret compensation deal.

Former electorate officer Gillian Sneddon has labelled the 100-thousand dollar package offered to her two weeks ago, as an insult.

The 51 year old who was sacked on the same day she began giving evidence against Orkopoulos, has been on sick leave for more than year.

The payment which comprises a 33 thousand dollar apology component would release parliament from further action, but would allow Ms Sneddon to pursue parliament's insurer.

But Ms Sneddon says the amount is an insult, and shows a complete lack of concern for her attempts to get her life back on track.

I wonder if the 2 million dollar government tax payer handout will make the Iemma govt ethical.Instead of being protected the woman has been victimised-here's a prime example how corruption is covered up-as soon as a person with integrity exposes this they are ostracised, their health and career destroyed-great work Rudd the millions you hand out to keep rotten non-for-profit organisations afloat is absolutely disgusting-out of the 66k she has to pay 20k in tax-the law stinks-where's the UNION?

The poor woman deserves a lot more for the community service she has done. I'm thinking an extra two noughts at the end. say, $10 million so as to not drag the ALP threw the mud. Thing is, the pack of cards supporting Rudd and Iemma could tumble at any moment.
