Part of Redfern Railway Station has been cordoned off, after the discovery of what's thought to be the weapon used in an overnight murder.
Riot squad police searching Redfern train station have located the weapon, sealed off the area and called in forensic officers.
It’s believed the killer of the 23-year-old Aboriginal man discarded it there some time after midnight, after stabbing him in the chest during an altercation.
Police are still questioning four witnesses to the attack, who were taken away during a raid on a Terrace at Vine St this morning. [See accompanying video]
Detectives are believed to be closing in on the suspect in the case, thanks to new leads provided by members of the public this morning.

Police have raided a house in the Block at Redfern after a fatal stabbing.
Vine Street at Redfern is filled with police, with around 20 detectives, uniformed officers and a riot squad.
A house has been raided on the corner of Lewis Street as police investigate the murder of a 23-year-old man who was found stabbed overnight.
Police have led a number of men away for questioning, they’ve also widened the crime scene forcing media back to the end of the street.
Detectives have brought one man out of the raided terrace and searched him on the street.
Police dogs can be heard barking inside.
The murdered man is understood to be from the North Coast, and was with friends when he was attacked.
The man was found lying on the road at around midnight last night with a stab wound to his chest.
He died on arrival at RPA Hospital.
