Australians finally getting the green message

24/05/2008 12:00:00 PM.  | Erin Maher
We are cutting back on carbon emissions and water use.

More than 20,000 rebates have been claimed by households in NSW for the installation of rainwater tanks, insulation and energy efficient hot water systems.

That's wiped off almost 14,000 tonnes of carbon emissions a year, and saved 585 million litres of water.

Erin, Well thats just wonderful news, where did this revelation come from some front bench fool in Canberra, and how many households are there in Australia? Given that Dudd and his stupid mates have killed the support on Solar, they are admitting there is no green house issues in Australia. We export coal and our contribution ot SO CALLEd green house emissions is 1% of global SO CALLED gases. It is all a con, I am not buiying into it. Inflation will kill the economy anyway. Just like Keeting.

It is encouraging that people are learning to live more frugally, but while we have an historically high immigration program, any efforts to reduce and recycle are just cancelled out by more consumers! If our economy depends on increasing our population constantly to ensure a demand for goods and services, there is no way we can meet our Kyoto committment and no way to reduce our carbon footprint. We need to set a global example and aim for zero population growth.
