A new artwork has been unveiled in Federal Parliament commemorating the Prime Minister's apology to the stolen generations.

The Calligraphic manuscript was donated by a local Canberra woman, who's inscribed Kevin Rudd's now-famous speech on a calf-skin.

The unveiling coincides with National Sorry Day and will become a permanent addition to the house.

LIVENEWS.com.au caught up with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Tom Calma to get his perspective on the 10 year anniversary since the reconciliation movement began.

Oh yeah, this will indeed go a long way in putting downward pressure on interest/inflation/petrol/grocery prices! Hallelujah!

I'm quite used to your cynical comments, but can you please at least make them relevant.

Sean, obviously you didn't get the cynical side of the comments. Indeed this is not relevant to interest rate, etc. But that is exactly the point - there are more pressing issues for silly Rudd to solve and yet he is spending time on useless gestures like this. Just shows the low IQ level of labor politicians and their supporters.

It might be argued that the sorry speech is also etched into the very skin of those who now are not protected by the state from predators. It was an easy thing to support the ALP when they were in opposition, because they couldn't hurt anyone. But as the situation in Aurukun showed, there are people who need more than local community help and that has been scaled back in the wake of the apology. All one can do is shake their head as the successful party of the last election flaunts its prowess.
