Australian Idol is set to gain a third host with the addition of former contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter.
The former Young Divas singer will join hosts Andrew G and James Mathison in a bid to freshen up the show’s format.
The 22-year-old, who is closer in age to both the audience and contestants of the show, will be acting as a back-stage host, interviewing hopeful contestants.
Ricki-Lee told News Ltd that her experience on the show will help her with the new position.
“I’ve have been through what these guys will go through and came out the other end.
“I will be more of a mentor to them, a shoulder to cry on when they are feeling happiness, excitement or when they are upset,” she said.
“It’s an exciting and amazing opportunity and each year has just been getting better and better for me.”
“Presenting is what I love to do and this is a great step forward for me.”
