A world environment day initiative announced by the Rudd government has been criticised by the Australian Greens.
They say the government's gone to water on long-term measures to address climate change.
Environment minister Peter Garrett has announced a voluntary energy-efficiency labelling scheme for TV and fast-tracking the phase-out of incandescent lightbulbs in favour of greener options.
But Greens senator Christine Milne says if the government was serious about energy efficiency, it would have a strict minimum performance standard for TVs and mandatory labelling at the very least.
She says the government's promises for the long term on climate change are just talk.
