A breath of fresh air for people with breathing difficulties

7/06/2008 11:55:00 AM.  | Jonothan Lea
People with breathing difficulties can now have text messages sent to them, telling them when to stay indoors.

The system sends sufferers text messages - connecting them with the government's own monitoring and forecasting equipment.

Environment Minister Verity Firth says the technology will help people avoid dangerous conditions.

“In Sydney we have Australia’s most comprehensive system of air monitoring stations.”

“Effectively what this has allowed us to do is bring all the information that we possess about air quality in Sydney over the last twenty years and provide a really user friendly format so that normal people can access that excellent data.”

Wonderful. When will I get that text message telling me that I am breathing the last bit of oxygen the ALP didn't wish to use?
