Sydney man diagnosed with meningococcal disease

A 49-year-old man is in a critical condition in a Sydney hospital after contracting meningococcal disease.

The man was admitted to Manly Hospital yesterday and people who have recently had contact with him are being offered antibiotics.

Meningococcal disease affects between 100 - 150 people in New South Wales each year.
