It has emerged Labor MP, John Della Bosca used his links to the owners of a Central Coast nightclub to force staff to drop allegations of abuse.
The NSW Education Minister's wife, Federal MP Belinda Neal sat on the board of the Central Coast Mariners with millionaire businessman Ray Awadallah for three years.
Mr Awadallah is also a part owner of Iguanas waterfront bar.
After a quick phone call from John Della Bosca on Saturday night, club management apologised unreservedly for the misunderstanding.
But some staff are standing by claims the power couple was abusive and threatening during a drunken argument at the club.
Mr Della Bosca will have to explain the incident to parliament in a week’s time.
The Opposition is calling for him to sacked.
NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell says it's become impossible to know who's telling the truth.
“With claims the club’s trying to get approval for a hotel licence, to help its viability and needs approval for re-development, clearly there are conflicts of interest in this affair that weren’t known…”
