A man has been charged with four offences after a six-hour stand-off with police in Sydney's south overnight.

Police will allege the 28-year-old man sped off in his car at Riverwood Plaza last night, striking the officers' vehicle as he drove away.

The man later barricaded himself inside his Bonds Road home, until he was arrested at 3am this morning.

Police cordoned off the area while negotiators spoke with the man during the incident.

The man was refused bail and charged with using a weapon to avoid apprehension, two counts of police assault and driving while disqualified.
