NSW Premier Morris Iemma is still being forced to sell the merits of his controversial power privatisation to his own MPs - as speculation mounts the plan won't be passed.
Mr Iemma has already been forced into humiliating negotiations with the opposition over the $10 billion sale which would see the state’s three electricity retailers sold off.
But it appears the premier still doesn’t have the numbers to pass legislation when it goes to the Upper House in coming weeks, with at least six Labor MPs threatening to cross the floor.
The opposition is also unhappy with negotiations saying some of their key demands aren’t being met.
The premier’s office has denied the legislation has been pushed back to ensure the numbers can be secured saying there was never a timetable for the legislation.
MPs rise for a three month recess in a fortnight.
