Cannabis house goes up in flames

17/06/2008 6:26:00 AM.  | Laura Tunstall

A cannabis house in Sydney's west has been destroyed by a suspicious fire overnight.

The house on Sydney Street at Oxley Park was raided last week - one of 12 homes searched by Operation Yallumba detectives - a large crop of hydroponic cannabis plants found inside.

Shortly before 11 o'clock last night the fire brigade was called there - the home was well alight.

It's been totally destroyed - police say nobody was living there are the time.

They also say all evidence relating to the drug case had already been confiscated - but they can't rule out a link between the two.

Chief Inspector Gregory Burns says there were no drugs or equipment left in the home.

“Any evidence that was in relation to the drugs and the drug matter was taken from the house last Thursday, no evidence in relation to the drugs was destroyed last night.”
