Self confessed geeks from all over the world are gathering in Sydney for the opening of Apple's new superstore.
People started lining up outside the shiny George Street store yesterday in anticipation of its official opening this afternoon.
Mike Koffman flew from Santa Cruz, California specifically for the Apple store opening.
"I'm a Macintosh, Apple computer nut. What am I going to do? Stay at home and tend to the garden?
"No, I think I'm going to let everything die and come down here and have fun. And this is fun!"
He is just one of a growing bunch of excited fans who are eagerly awaiting their chance to explore the spacious new store.
With an entire floor dedicated to iPods and another floor stocked full with Mac computers Apple fans should be able to find everything they need.
But Ron Johnson, Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail, likes to think the Apple Stores are more than just a place to buy.
"Really we 've become a gathering place, we've become a community, because people really love to spend time at their neighbourhood Apple Store."
The store's top floor boasts a 'Genius Bar', where customers can go to discuss Apple products and learn to use new technology.
The George Street store will open its doors at 5pm on Thursday.
