Tania Zaetta has hit back at claims she’s milking the infamous Afghanistan sex claims to help her endorsement deal with the Lemon Detox program.
A press release emerged yesterday from well-known PR agent Max Markson quoting Ms Zaetta as saying, “The Lemon Detox drink has become a natural part of my life and daily routine over the past few years.
“I have relied heavily on the program in the past few months during the stress brought on by the unsubstantiated claims surrounding my trip to Afghanistan and Iraq.”
Sections of the media have slammed Ms Zaetta, suggesting the move was a cheap attempt to cash in at the infamy of claims she had had sexual relations with Australian troops while on tour with other entertainers in Afghanistan.
But in an exclusive interview with LIVENEWS.com.au, Ms Zaetta says her association with Lemon Detox is long-standing and suggestions she’s cashing in are rubbish.
“I think at the moment people are just looking for anything that they can possibly write," she said.
“It is a little disappointing.”
She says she’s philosophical about the embarrassing fallout from the original Afghanistan sex allegations.
“Somebody very close to me asked me recently, ‘If you knew that all of this was going to happen would you have still gone on the trip?’ And the initial reaction is of course, ‘Heavens no!’" she said.
"If you knew that suddenly you were going to be faced with all these terrible rumours you probably wouldn’t go on a trip like that.
“But that was then this is now and it was the trip of my lifetime. I do things that aren’t monetarily orientated at all. Instead of going to Hollywood and giving that a crack I go to Bollywood.
“Believe me Bollywood does not pay as much as Hollywood and it’s a hard slog. So I do things more for the challenge for myself, because that’s the sort of person I am.”
