The Aboriginal Affairs Minister can't say how many counsellors are working to tackle indigenous child sexual abuse across NSW.
Documents obtained under Freedom of Information reveal just one part-time counsellor has been hired in the 12 months since the government announced its response to the Breaking The Silence report.
Paul Lynch says more money has been allocated in the state budget to the issue, but can't confirm how many staff are working on it.
“The issue of Aboriginal child sexual assault certainly was being addressed more than two weeks ago, it’s not just being addressed to the $22.9 million it was allocated two weeks ago.
“The actions in the state plan are actually being rolled out – the claims being made relate to information that’s 12 months old.”
