No sex with troops, entertainers told

Singer Amy Pearson jokes she has been fitted for a chastity belt in preparation for a date with Australian troops in East Timor.

It's a predictable reaction, given the false accusations that entertainer Tania Zaetta had sex with troops on a visit this year to Afghanistan.

Pearson, who will join comedians Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson and Jenny Talia, singers Nicki Gillis and Rick Steele and MC Aniela Hedditch on a tour to East Timor, says all have been warned not to have sex during the trip.

"They just told us all don't get drunk and don't have sex basically," the British-born Pearson, 22, told AAP after briefing sessions ahead of the trip.

She and her fellow entertainers leave on Friday for the first such tour since the Tania Zaetta controversy.

The actress and entertainer was embarrassed by a leaked defence department briefing that alleged she had sex with special forces soldiers in Afghanistan.

Defence officials later apologised to Zaetta after finding there was no evidence to support the claim, and admitted they handled the matter poorly.

Pearson said the army had addressed the controversy in its briefings.

"It was more about media attention - that it would be nice to have good media attention.

"And don't be afraid to talk about what you're doing and promote the fact that we're going out there to help out and give back as much as we can, because that's the point really."

Zaetta's treatment raised concerns other entertainers might be put off performing for the troops.

But Pearson says she is not concerned about finding herself in a similar situation.

"We've all been strapped into our chastity belts before we go, that was first port of call," she laughed.

"But you know, things blow up like that a lot, and I don't think my boyfriend would be too impressed if I came back with any stories like that.

"I'm going there to sing, and I'm doing this for the troops and I don't really concern myself with anything like that."

The singer, who now calls Sydney home, said she was nervous about heading to strife-torn East Timor, but felt safe with the military's attention to detail.

"It's not every day you get to do something like this, and I'm very excited to be able to go out and give back like this."

The Timor tour will be followed by a tour to the Solomon Islands in late June featuring singers Beccy Cole, Claire Clarke and Cass Eager, and comedians, Big Brother Little Brother.
